So I guess for the money netflix is OK, even with the scratched up DVD's in wrinkled up cases I always seem to get. I still haven't figured out how to get a sense of what a movie is about before I rent it, and end up renting some truly horrible shit. For example, I just recieved "Zack and Miri Make a Porno." From the title and the trailer and the reviews I thought this would be funny as shit, and it started out that way. But as soon as the porno making part of the film gets underway the movie takes a wrong turn down chick-flick highway and the comedy all but stops. From that point forward I had to repeatedly resist the urge to pull out this disc and frisbee it out the window. What is it with disguising sappy, romantic crap as comedy anyway? Haven't we had our fill of love story dogshit yet? Can't we move on from this worn out fantasy of meeting your soul mate, working out your differences and then living happily ever after? It's a theme that's been bought, sold and ass-raped six million ways from Sunday, and has ruined too many otherwise good movies to count. And by the way this movie is Rated-R so you won't see any real porn in it, but it should also be rated CF to warn viewers that it's a chick flick disguised as a comedy.
